I have not owned the original Rega Elicit Integrated Amp, so I cannot offer a direct comparison. It just sounds so good, I spent years with cyrus gear before hand and can't compare it. The SA20 had a slightly richer presentation, typically Arcam, but wasn't a case of which was better, just a preference to the different presentation. When the dealer changed over to the Rega Elex-R, around the same price tag, it had those elements the Arcam lacked. And we get another surprise as we jump up the price range to the Rega Elex-R (£900) and Elicit-R (£1600). This amp just has a lot of go juice and rocks the house. From memory, the Elex-R was a little more transparent but very involving. So I expect more power in sound with SA20 with the same character of sound.
